Pizza Journey

After measuring, inventing, sketching, measuring, walking around in circles and some more measuring and thinking I’d decided that it was all too hard and that the old BBQ had to go! I’d tried to save it to no avail, and with the entire area needing a re-model it was time to consult the sledgehammer of destiny.

The kids were excited, an opportunity for parent sponsored destruction – bring it! The only rules were, don’t kill each other and you can only do 5 bricks at a time then you had to load the trailer with the spoils. Some bricks shattered and some needed some further dad encouragement. After 3 hours hard graft we managed to remove about 40% of the BBQ (I actually thought it was more about 70%!).

It was now off to Welland to empty the trailer and then back again for me brick smacking. On my return I decided to park the trailer closer to the building site thinking t would be easy enough to move when full. After another 2 hrs of swinging the hammer and shovelling the broken bits I realised that only about 30% of the BBQ made it into the first load. Looking at the trailer there was now about 1.5 tonne of bricks in it and I was getting worried on how I could drag it out. I started out by myself and got about 60cm before it lurched from my hands almost squishing 100kg of 3 onlooking children. Tory came to the rescue and helped muscle it into the driveway with the children pushing from the rear!

Operation Demolition is now complete, the space left is looking great and the dreams of a pizza oven are getting closer.
